Rob has roughly 20 years of experience working in the mental health industry. He began his career by interning as a school counselor at Portland High School during his undergraduate studies before graduating from Cornerstone University in 2005 (Psychology and Family Studies Majors). Shortly after, Rob gained employment at Turning Point Youth Center, UHS (now Cedar Creek hospital). While working as a Mental Health Tech, Rob completed his graduate work at Central Michigan University and graduated in 2008 with a M.A. in Professional Counseling and School Counseling. Rob was promoted as a Mental Health Therapist and then promoted again a few years later to Director of Risk Management and Compliance. Rob coordinated multi-disciplined, quality care throughout the facility coordinating Nursing, Clinical Services, Milieu, and Human Resources.
In 2014, Rob transitioned to the School Counselor role at Portland Middle School. Concurrently, Rob began working for Be Well Counseling and Consultation Services in Portland, Michigan as a contractual therapist. In 2018 Rob joined Betterhelp, an online Telehealth company and continued to work with clients from all walks of life while, continuing his work at BWCCS and Portland Middle School.
In 2020, Rob founded Beckett Counseling Services, LLC.
Rob has worked with hundreds of clients with countless backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, etc. Rob's approach to counseling is relational and he practices the Rogerian concept of "unconditional positive regard" with all of his clients and people he comes into contact with.
Rob loves fitness, music, tech, sneakers, sports, his wife and his children.
